Analysis of the biblical accounts of traumatic events and sequelae in the text provide resources to help contemporary trauma survivors make sense of their own experiences. The use of a shared narrative has potential to reduce shame and dissociation that occurs in trauma victims.

About the Presenter:
Directed a social service/mental health agency for 26 years that included extensive work with victims of trauma, particularly family violence. Personal clinical experience as well as supervisory experience in the agency.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify trauma responses in biblical narratives that match contemporary knowledge about trauma
- Participants will have tools to share with their clients who demonstrate the effects of trauma in the treatment room
- Use the language of ACES (adverse childhood experiences) to identify sources of healing in their work

Relationship of somatic conversion, attempts at mastery, articulation difficulties to trauma stories and clinical experiences of clients
Keys to recovery work that integrate the biblical narratives and current conceptualizations
