Childhood trauma and abuse often have long-term effects on adults. This will be a presentation of a clinical case example of a patient who went through very traumatic life experiences. Treatment modalities for trauma will be outlined. Cultural and social influences on trauma will also be explored. It will involve discussing how patients, and their therapists, grapple with devastating consequences of trauma.

Dr. Margo K. Neuburger is a psychologist at Empower Health Center in Lakewood, NJ. She specializes in working with adults who have trauma histories.
Learning Objectives:
- To define the long term effects of trauma and abuse
- To identify cultural and social influences on the experince of trauma
- To explain how to help patients, and therapists, deal with painful effects of trauma
Agenda:
This is a clinical case presentation of a patient with a significant trauma history. Clinicians will think critically about treatment modalities for trauma, as well as cultural and societal influences. They will also explore how both patients and clinicians can deal with the pain from the affects of trauma and its losses.
